Weekly data file · for commercial truck insurance producers

Trucking insurance leads: every new USDOT carrier this week, with phone and email

The full file free for 7 days, no card. Then $29 a month if you want to keep it.

A new for-hire carrier cannot haul for pay across state lines until an insurer files its proof of cover with FMCSA. Every Monday you get one spreadsheet with every carrier registered in the last 21 days that was not in an earlier file, with phone, email, trucks, cargo and a for-hire flag, so you can call them while they are still choosing a policy.

Subscribe now, $29/month

No card for the free 7 days. After that, $29 a month, cancel any time.

Rasengan Data is a private company (Rasengan LLC). Not affiliated with FMCSA, USDOT or any government agency. Our file is built from public FMCSA records.

Why the week they register is the week they buy

A carrier that hauls other people's freight for pay across state lines needs operating authority (an MC number) from FMCSA (FMCSA: what is operating authority?). That authority does not go active until the carrier's insurer files proof of liability cover with FMCSA on Form BMC-91 or BMC-91X. For most general-freight trucks the federal minimum is $750,000.

The clock is short. Once FMCSA publishes an authority application in the FMCSA Register, the insurance filing is due within 20 days. If it is late, FMCSA serves a decision saying the application will be dismissed unless the carrier complies within 60 more days (FMCSA insurance filing requirements).

So a new for-hire carrier that applied for authority along with its USDOT number is shopping for a policy in the same weeks it shows up in our file. It cannot sit on the decision: until the filing is in, the truck cannot earn a dollar hauling for hire across state lines.

A second chance inside 18 months

Every new carrier is a "new entrant" for its first 18 months, and FMCSA runs a safety audit within its first 12 months of operation (FMCSA New Entrant Safety Assurance Program). The carrier you missed in week one is still new at month six, and if its first policy runs a year, the renewal lands inside that window. Keep every "not now" on a follow-up list.

What is in the file

Each Monday's file has every carrier registered in the last 21 days that was not in an earlier file. For example, our file for 2026-10-15 to 2026-10-21 had 1,866 carriers, 1,845 of them in the 50 states and DC, and every row had a phone number and an email address, as the carrier filed them. This week's counts are on the this-week page.

  • For-hire: 1,320. 798 of them run interstate, the group most likely to need authority and a BMC-91 filing next. The other 522 are for-hire carriers that run in-state only.
  • Private fleets: 466. Businesses that haul their own goods, not for hire. Still prospects for commercial auto, without the federal filing clock.
  • No operating type filed: 80.
  • Small fleets: 513 of the 798 interstate for-hire carriers reported one truck, and 689 reported one or two.
  • Hazmat: 109 for-hire carriers checked the hazmat box, which carries higher federal minimums.

Columns: USDOT number, legal name, DBA name, company officer, street address, city, state, ZIP, country, mailing city and state, phone, cell phone, email, operation (interstate or intrastate), hazmat, carries passengers, trucks, drivers, date registered, cargo carried, operating type (for-hire, private, exempt) and a link to the carrier's FMCSA safety record.

You get a zip with the CSV, the same rows as JSON, and a plain-English guide to every column. A new file lands every Monday morning (US time) at the same download link, and each carrier appears in one file only.

Five real rows from our Oct 15-21 file

Phone numbers and emails are shortened here; the file has them in full. All five are interstate and for-hire. Click a USDOT number to check that carrier on its public safety record.

This week's count for every state is on the new DOT leads page.

How producers use it Monday morning

  1. Download the new file

It lands Monday morning at the same link. Open it in Excel or Google Sheets.
  2. Filter to your licensed states

Use the State column. In the Oct 15-21 file, Texas had 85 new interstate for-hire carriers, Florida 67, California 62, Pennsylvania 52 and Illinois 49.
  3. Keep the filing prospects

Operation = Interstate and Operating Type containing "Authorized For Hire". That was 798 rows in the Oct 15-21 file.
  4. Check the FMCSA record

Click the record link. Authority still pending usually means no insurance filing yet: call those first.
  5. Route by risk

Sort by Trucks, Cargo Carried and Hazmat. Send hazmat and multi-truck fleets to the right market; one-truck owner-operators tend to decide fast.
  6. Scrub, then dial by hand

Check personal-looking numbers against the National Do Not Call Registry and call between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. their local time. No autodialers or marketing texts without written consent.
  7. Email the rest and log every touch

One plain email that follows CAN-SPAM to each carrier you missed. Put "not now" carriers on 30, 90 and 180 day follow-ups.

The full routine, with the contact rules, is in our guide to finding and reaching new trucking companies.

Before you start

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Email [email protected] from the address you used at checkout and we cancel. There is no contract. Charged by mistake? Email within 7 days of a charge for a full refund (see our refund policy).

When am I charged?

Never, for the free 7 days: we email you the full current file and take no card. If you then subscribe, Stripe checkout starts with 7 free days and charges $29 on day 8, then once a month, unless you cancel.

Will it open in Excel?

Yes. It is a plain CSV with a header row and one carrier per row. It opens in Excel or Google Sheets and imports into most CRMs and dialers. The same rows come as JSON too.

Is a weekly file fast enough?

A row can be a few days to 3 weeks old when the file lands: each Monday we recheck 3 weeks of registrations so carriers FMCSA lists late are not missed. If you race other agents for the very first call, a daily service fits better. If you work new carriers in one call block a week, the weekly file does the job for less.

Is this from FMCSA?

No. Not affiliated with FMCSA, USDOT or any government agency. Rasengan Data is a private company. We rebuild the file every week from the FMCSA Motor Carrier Census, a public federal record. Contact details are as each carrier filed them.
