For surety bond and workers' comp agents in California

California contractors whose bond or workers' comp just lapsed

Every week, hundreds of California contractors get a cancellation notice on their license bond or workers' comp policy. Unless they replace it by the effective date, the CSLB suspends the license and they cannot legally work. We compare the CSLB's public licence file twice a week and give you the list while there is still time to write the replacement.

1,423bond cancellations, week of Oct 13
630WC cancelled or expired
1,098notices still pending
$149per month, statewide

What the feed is

  • Bond cancelled: the surety filed a cancellation on the contractor's license bond. Most notices take effect weeks later, so the contractor still needs a new bond.
  • Workers' comp cancelled or expired: the insurer cancelled the policy, or it ran out with no renewal on file.
  • Suspended: the licence is already suspended (CSLB reason shown: bond, workers' comp, liability insurance and others).
  • Reinstated: the licence came back, so you can stop chasing it.

Each row has the licence number, business, trades, city, county, business phone, the surety or insurer, the effective date, a 90-day reinstatement date and a link to the contractor's official CSLB page. Statewide; filter by county in Excel or Google Sheets.

The 90-day clock

We add 90 days to every bond or workers' comp effective date and show it as Reinstate by. California generally lets a contractor cure a bond or workers' comp lapse, or a late renewal, retroactively within a limited window, and this date approximates it. Before the effective date the contractor keeps working if a replacement is filed; after it, the clock tells you how urgent the call is. It is a planning date, not legal advice: confirm the rule for the case with the CSLB.
